Xylem expands with new pump rental hub in the Philippines

Xylem has announced the opening of a new pump rental and service business in the Philippines. The hub, located in Calamba, will serve the growing demand from the municipal and industrial sectors across the Philippines and Southeast Asia. It will focus in particular on flood control, mining and power supply operations.

Quick and cost-effective dewatering

The rental hub will also further expand Xylem’s footprint in the region, and build on the company’s current manufacturing and sales operations there.

“We continue to experience increased rental demand throughout Southeast Asia as customers recognize the value of Xylem’s rental offer – a quick and cost-effective way to tackle water removal challenges,” said David Flinton, Senior Vice President and President of Xylem’s dewatering business.

“More and more customers are turning to rental to reduce capital costs. In addition, as climate change drives volatility in weather patterns, the need for contingency planning solutions and emergency pumping equipment is growing. This new facility strengthens our presence in the region, enabling us to better meet customers’ needs with timely, turn-key solutions from a single, experienced source.”

Maximizing efficiency in mining and power generation

Xylem’s market-leading Godwin and Flygt brands play a key role in dewatering and liquids transfer in municipal and industrial projects, including mining. As the second largest mining market in Southeast Asia, the Philippines has mineral resources estimated at approximately $1 trillion. With over 40 large-scale mines in operation, Xylem’s new pump rental and service hub will help maximize the efficiency of mines across the country.

Furthermore, by 2030, $25 billion will be invested in expanding power generation infrastructure across the Philippines. Xylem’s new facility is set to capitalize on this planned investment, offering cutting-edge technologies to minimize system downtime at plants. Finally, as the heavily storm-exposed Philippines faces a growing threat from tropical cyclones, Xylem’s hub will offer immediate access to flood control equipment to protect communities, infrastructure, and industries.

Submersible and surface-mounted pump options

Steve Leung, Senior Vice President and President of Xylem’s Emerging Markets, said, “By utilizing rental options, businesses can cut capital expenditure and lead times while accessing extensive dewatering rental fleets. 24/7 on-site services keep critical operations moving and minimize downtime. Our new pump rental and service hub will offer customers access to our extensive technology portfolio, which includes submersible and surface-mounted pump options, backed by highly skilled application engineers and field operations teams who quickly respond to customers’ dewatering needs.”

Xylem is unique as the only global company operating in the dewatering space that manufactures, rents, sells and services its own equipment. This provides its customers with access to a broad range of market-leading and reliable dewatering technologies and solutions. With the world’s largest rental fleet of 20,000 assets, the company has invested significantly in its international rental footprint, having recently announced expansions in Europe, South Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

With a wide range of Godwin and Flygt pumps available for rent, the 2,600 square-meter Calamba hub offers general dewatering rental services, preventive maintenance, pump watch, pipeline outsource contacts, and aftermarket services.
